The evolution of the role of the in-house lawyer in a global corporation implies several challenges. Managing and developing in-house legal talent and providing key insights for a successful relationship between in-house and external counsel is one of them, especially when the role entails multi-country responsibilities in many different markets and a complex regulatory environment.

John Rigau

John Rigau is currently General Counsel for PepsiCo Western Europe. John leads a team of 26 professionals, including 14 lawyers located in Europe (Barcelona, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Brussels) and a number of public policy, communications and government affairs professionals.

During his tenure at PepsiCo, John has held a wide array of roles within the law department, including the creation of the law dept of PepsiCo Spain, Legal Director for Pizza Hut and KFC for South Europe and North Africa, the GC role for PepsiCo Foods Europe, M&A counsel for Eastern European markets and board member of joint ventures and companies at PepsiCo Europe.

John also served as President of the Spanish Beverages Association between 2016-18 and currently remains as Vice President.

Prior to PepsiCo, John was an associate at Baker & McKenzie in Barcelona.
John has a law degree and studied executive education at Columbia Business School.
