ESADE Alumni is pleased to announce the next talk in their refresher programme, “The corporate, industry and global fallout of disruptive innovation and the digital revolution” by professor Xavier Ferrás, associate professor in ESADE’s department of operations, innovation and data science. 

The digital revolution has triggered wave after wave of creative destruction whose fallout affects companies and industries nationwide and globally. How can companies prepare for disruption? How do industries adapt? How will all this affect global competitiveness?

 

Xavier Ferrás

PhD in economics and business (UB), MBA (ESADE) and telecommunications engineer (UPC).

Professor of operations, innovation and data science management at ESADE since 2002. Executive director of Business Custom Programs. Dean of the school of business and communication at Universidad de Vic.

Until 2012, Xavier was the director of the Business Innovation Unit at ACC10 (the Catalan bureau of competitiveness) in charge of technology transfer policies, R&D and de development of clusters in Catalonia. Prior to that he was the director of business development at CIDEM, head of innovation, coordinator of the technology innovation plan for Catalonia (2001-2004), and member of the committee in charge of drawing up the 2005-2008 research and innovation programme. His other managerial posts in the realms of technology and innovation include board member or member of boards of trustees at BAIE (aerospace cluster), Biocat (biotech cluster), CTM technology centres (advanced materials), Barcelona Media (audiovisual), CTAE (aerospace) and LEITAT (manufacturing facilities of the Microsoft Productivity Innovation Center in Manresa, the Catalan Research and Innovation Foundation, the i-CERCA Foundation (Generalitat research centres), Invertec (venture capital company), and the Creafutur prospective institute.

Prior to this he was a manager in the automotive industry and taught electronic engineering at the Escuela de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación, Barcelona. Author of the book Innovación 6.0: el Fin de la Estrategia (Plataforma, 2010). Co-author of Pasión por Innovar (Granica, 2006), Tanto Creces, Tanto Vales (Granica, 2005), and 50 Lecciones de Management (Granica, 2007).

Speaker at more than 200 national and international conferences about strategy, innovation and technology management.
