María Garaña
Executive with over 20 years of sales, services, marketing, distribution, and business development experience. Extensive international experience in field and corporate positions driving transformational projects, linking strategy with digitalization. Solid track record launching and growing businesses, building teams & organizations, gaining share, and increasing profitability. 12 years holding CEO positions in Northamerica, Latinamerica, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Maria Garaña joined Google in January 2018 as Managing Director for gTech Pubs in EMEA

Maria started her career in strategy consulting and investment banking working for Accenture, Bain & Company and Citibank in Spain, Turkey and the UK.

She moved to Mexico where she joined the second largest worldwide producer of Spanish content, Television Azteca, as Inventory Director in charge of revenue management. Afterwards, Maria became CEO of Zoom Media Group in Miami.

In 2003 Maria joined Microsoft as Marketing and Operations Director of Microsoft Mexico. In 2006 she was promoted to CEO of the South Cone, leading all areas of Microsoft, business and consumer. Maria returned to Spain in 2008 to be the CEO of Microsoft Spain, with full responsibility over all divisions of Microsoft in the country. In her tenure, Microsoft Spain grew consistently double digit, won market share significantly and got to be top Best Place to Work every year.

In 2015 she was promoted to VicePresident of Business Solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), where she was in charge of pre-sales, sales, marketing, customer support and services for all customers, industries and business solutions, doubling the size of the cloud business.

Maria holds an undergrad in Business and Law from San Pablo University, an International trade minor by UC Berkeley and she is a Harvard Business School MBA. She also serves in the advisory of ESADE Business School and Fundación Rafael del Pino, as well as non executive board member in Liberbank and Grupo Alantra.

Maria has two kids, Marco 11 and Willy 7. She is a passionate runner and lately has started doing Spartan races...not rare to see her practicing the monkey bars in the London Gym.
