'Is banking such a different business?', by Professor Jesús Palau (Lic&MBA 71)

Programa de continuidad | Spanish

April 26 OF 2017 from 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM

ESADE Alumni invites you to a Refresher Programme workshop, ''2017 Economic Outlook. A year of uncertainty: The Trump administration, Brexit and China'', by Jesús Palau (Lic&MBA 71), Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting in ESADE.

This talk will examine the basic differences between banking and other businesses, and discuss whether traditional corporate valuation and analysis methods need to be completely overhauled or simply tweaked in order to analyse banks like any other business. The use of valuation methods that differentiate between asset and liability value creation can shed light on this question and reveal the underlying reasons of value creation in the banking system and their contribution to the transfer of wealth amongst depositors and companies.
