During the Do Better Talks interview on corporate culture and professional development, Duato spoke about the competitive advantage that companies can gain by building a solid corporate culture. He also explored the importance of professional development and lifelong learning in promoting careers, teams, and companies.

Joaquín Duato earned his MBA from Esade in 1985 and a master’s in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He has worked at Johnson & Johnson for three decades, and his career there won him the 2022 Esade Award. Before becoming the company’s CEO and Chairman, he was the vice-president of the Executive Committee, where he managed the pharmaceutical and consumer health branch, as well as the tech teams and the global supply chain.

Duato recalled that he was thrilled to join a company that cares for people’s health and had principles, and that offered multiple avenues of professional development. A company with a personality of its own and a strong culture is always advantageous because “when your purpose is clearly defined, you have more energy for competing,” he highlights.
